I found this leaf on my way to work

this morning, and

thought you might like

to see it too.....

...no, it not fabric either, it's a

ridgy-didge, real McCoy leaf, from

a real tree.....

.....there were quite a

few trees in the area, and I'm

not game enough to narrow

it down to which one, but

it does have similarities

to a gum leaf :)

a murder/mystery, or
political intrigue book!

Hi folks, have you read a good book lately?

I have just finished reading

The Dressmaker by

Posie Graeme-Evans

The book seems a bit daunting at

first, as there are over 400 pages, but

I really enjoyed it, and

didn't want it to end.

For those of you who think the name

of the author seems familiar,

Posie Graeme-Evans is

also the producer of the television show

McLeod's Daughters.

The story is set in England during the 1800's, and is about the

challenges life throws at the main character growing up.

The title obviously gives away her occupation, but it is the

journey getting there that keeps you glued to the book. I could tell

you more, but I don't want to spoil it for you :)

This is not a

good move when

hand quilting.....

...solution...?

I wrap my

finger tips with

sticky tape :)

This doesn't stop

me from stabbing myself, but

it does delay

any marks

on your quilt!

Remember on my last jaunt I mentioned birthdays? Doesn't it make you wonder where some people get the inspiration for the planning of some parties and gifts?

Some of us prefer a lovely home made fare, whereas others might prefer a high tea complete with all of the tableware.

You have to admit, though, it doesn't have to be a birthday, but isn't it lovely when people treat family or friends like a Queen for the day...even if it is with just a box of chocolates :)

Oh dear, where to start!!

just when you thought it was safe, I take off on one of my jaunts...lol...

Hard to believe how
the months are
flying by. Before you
know it, the
diary is full of jottings, there
are birthdays to
remember, and even
with winter upon us, the
weather seems to
be back to front and
topsy-turvy too!

Whatever the weather, I hope you
are all able to sit
back in a comfy chair, and
enjoy a good book or

Not the

usual recent finishes :)

Thank you to the Work Basket...

I used a garland design from their book

to make this circle.

The printed fabric for the back of this cushion is from the 'Quest for a Cure' range in greys and pinks, hence

my using pink for the background of the

stitchery, and

dark grey for the stitching.

I decided on a dusty red with black polka dots for this one.

And also

I hope Brutus approves...lol....

I decided on a 'vine-y' type

floral on blue for this one, as I

used a dark blue for the stitchery.

How do you

manage your emails....

.....do you have heaps

and heaps of folders, or

do you keep your

stored emails to

a minimum?

At the start of

each month, I make

a new Folder for

it (the Month)...

Any correspondence

that I want to answer

later, or read again, goes

into it.

I then regularly

open the Folder to

check what needs doing, and

at the end of the Month, I

reply to any unanswered mail, or

transfer it to a

new Folder for the

next new month, and delete the

old one.

How does your Inbox

Have you seen the J.F. Ingalls Collection of embroidery designs?

They were posted by John Governale, from images believed to be more than 120 years old. The J.F Ingalls pattern catalog is dated 1886.

I've been trying to

work with the designs, so that I can show them to you here.

I plan to post different ones
from time to time.
To save them, right click the
one you want, then
either save, or copy image to
your computer, and
use how you wish :)

I hope you have fun with them.
Let me know
how you use them.... doilies,
runners, etc.,
and if you would like
to see more :)

Where oh where has my pattern line gone....

How do you mark your
stitcheries onto fabric?

I like my

'purple marker' which

fades away with time, or

with water....

The only draw back, is it

also fades with the

weather...lol... not the

best with the

muggy temps we have

been getting :)

....as you can see, it has
also done nothing to improve
my photography skills...lol....sorry :)

Toddlers balls.

They are quite fiddly to

make, but great for

littlies to be able

to hold onto :)

Remember the recent post I did

for Valentine's Day?

Unfortunately I later realised

I hadn't made any

alterations to the image, which some

sites request you to do, and I also

couldn't find it's original 'home'.

I have since changed it to a

Graphics Fairy image, and I

having been 'playing' with the

cupid image I used.

Here is my attempt of

working with my

first choice....

I realise many may

find fault with it, but I am

very new to this, and am

learning by trial and error.

Here is another image

I have been working on.

I know cream flowers in

the corners would be better, but

as I say, I am still practicing :)

The main tip I would recommend

using, is to

make plenty of copies of the

cut images :)

how we take it for

granted that everyone

just keeps needle and

thread in our

sewing baskets!

Apart from the
typical sewing items, I also
have......

......pegs to help hold things together.....
....sticky tape for when I need a
thimble - the metal ones just DON'T work for me...lol...
....clip seal lunch bags to store project pieces in....
.....talcum powder for when hands feel sticky, or oily....
.....cotton wool sticks - handy for removing water soluble fabric marking lines....
...and not forgetting.....

.....a magnet for finding stray pins and needles....
and a wooden spoon to help turn fiddly pieces through.

If only my basket included photography skills...lol... :)

I'm Back....

Hi everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed

Australia Day celebrations

on Wednesday.

On top of all that, would

you believe Wednesday was

also the 10th anniversary of

my shop :)

So now back to

work, and apart from

catching up on things, I spent

today rearranging the shop....

now off to enjoy

a relaxing coffee :)
